It Might Happen To You
James 2:22-24. Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
According to James, Abraham’s faith was wrought with his works. The word “wrought” means his faith was produced. Abraham’s faith was not consistent because he slipped occasionally and walked by sight.
When Abraham came into Gerar, he told king Abimelech that Sarah was his sister instead of his wife. Fear over powered his faith and he lied as opposed to just trust God. God eventually spoke to the king and Sarah was released back to Abraham (Gen 20:1-3).
Scenarios like this produces our faith and should never cause us to continue in the faithless path of lies!
