From Whence Came Preaching
Today we preach the word of God for the purpose of edifying the body of Christ. However, from God's standpoint men did not always preach. Have you ever wondered where preaching started from. Come on lets take a short journey.
Preaching began from a biblical standpoint during the times of Ezra and Nehemiah after the children was released from being in captivity. And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together. Nehemiah 6:7
The prophets of God had often proclaim the words of God to and for the people but now a shift was in the making. Everything had to be rebuilt from the worship to the temple. Because of this another chance that God had granted, certain things had to be put in place first so that everything else could stand.
The first thing that God ordered was worship but the people had to be taught how to worship. This was where sound doctrine concerning the expectation of the people of God was taught, preached and demonstrated. People hear and sometimes receive prophecy but teaching and preaching sticks to our spirit whether we want it to or not because the WORD can't return to God void!
