Will We Ever Get Pass the Past?
Philippians 3:13-16
13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Paul here states that he is not yet fully matured however he is moving in the right direction. Now grant it I do understand that we do have to conduct certain business before we can move on and conduct kingdom business. Paul however, said for him this is one thing that he do or does continually. Now they may have been hundreds of things that he had to correct but one of them stuck out to him.
We must find a way to attain spiritual freedom.
Paul had to find a way to free himself from the guilt of his past. 3:13 …forgetting those things which are behind,
These are the things that Paul wanted to leave with his listeners.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]I am forgetting those things that are behind me.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]I have learned to get pass my past.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]The road was narrow but thanks be to God I found a way.
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matt 7:14
[if !supportLists]· [endif]Why can’t we find this place of freedom? Because we can’t get pass the past!
-The divorce rate has surpass the marriage rate because one spouse can’t get pass the past.
-Churches are in a rut because leaders can’t get pass the past.
-Politicians are at odds because parties can’t get pass the past.
-Christians are reaching for gifts that they can’t reach because they can’t get pass the past.
-There is a Hatfield beside every McCoy because they can’t get pass the past.
-Pastors and churches stop showing up to critical services because they can’t get pass the past.
To get pass the past we must be able to forgive.
